Volunteer Opportunities

The giving of one's self or one's time commitment can be very challenging in today's world. ARE asks that each volunteer know how valuable this time is to a small agency such as ours. A volunteer's support can make the difference between a job being completed or not; a consumer receiving transportation or not. For it is through their compassion and unselfish dedication that allows us to carry out our mission and supply a quality service to the community. Here are the volunteer opportunities we offer:

Transportation: Volunteer is responsible for driving consumers to hospitals and doctor's offices or even grocery stores. Travel may be extensive at times, 6 to 8 hours round trip. Volunteer must supply vehicle, have a valid drivers license, and proof of insurance.

Food Deliveries: Food deliveries from the local food bank are made on bi-weekly bases. Volunteer needs his or her own transportation. Deliveries during regular business hours are preferred, but other schedules can be discussed.

Fundraising: ARE is involved in various auctions and fundraisers throughout the year. Volunteers are always needed in these situations. Keep checking the website for current ARE fundraising events. This has become one of the ARE most needed volunteer opportunities.

Marketing/PR: This person would develop a support linkage for the agency to gain awareness and provide notice of events. Also, if good computer skills would also design the media releases.

Office Help: Duties here include general office support, data entry, filing, answering telephone, various mailings. For general office support, the volunteer should have daytime availability, but many tasks can be done at home or at other times. We're very flexible.
