Education Programs
ARE's Education Service is available to deliver the most current and up-to-date information about HIV/AIDS to the community. We are moving into our 12th year of providing education programs to specific target groups as well as the general public. We have been successful at reaching thousands of residents over our history.
HIV/AIDS education will identify behaviors that put people at risk for HIV and offer behavioral changes to reduce transmission and clarify any misinformation about the disease. Remember education is still the only tool - there is no cure and no vaccine.
Community Speaking Engagements: Facilitated by trained HIV educators and, specialized for community organizations or health awareness. Schools, churches, medical, substance abuse and correctional facilities are examples of such organizations that have participated.
Local Events: We are available to support local events, supplying HIV educational information and brochures.
General Information: ARE can offer your audience an individual who is living with HIV/AIDS to discuss their personal story of living with the disease. They can describe how the virus has affected their life and health, and how they, their families and community have responded to the infection.
Note: ARE strives to fulfill all requests for educational presentations or participating in general community health fairs and functions. A couple of things for you to know might help us in helping you. To help the with scheduling please give an advance notice of your event and if you are requesting a person living with HIV/AIDS to speak. A notice of two weeks is required and a month would be preferable.
