Who we ARE

AIDS Response Effort, Inc. (ARE) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides crucial healthcare information and compassionate care for those impacted by HIV/AIDS, homelessness, and human service needs in the Northern Shenandoah Valley Region.

Our staff provides all case management services, testing, and prevention education programs. Without ARE, those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS living in the Lord Fairfax Health District # 7 (LFHD7) would receive limited help with financial and supportive services directly related to their disease.

This district includes:

  • Frederick
  • Clarke
  • Warren
  •  Shenandoah
  •  Page

  • Winchester
  • Berryville
  • Boyce
  • Edinburg
  • Front Royal
  • Luray
  • Middletown
  • Mount Jackson
  • New Market
  • Shenandoah
  • Stanley
  • Stephens City
  • Strasburg
  • Toms Brook
  • Woodstock

ARE has made tremendous progress in education, research, treatment, and in removing the stigma of HIV/AIDS. Much work still remains to be done. We can all take the necessary steps to make today’s world less ignorant and more understanding of what living positive is about. We must continue supporting those affected while continuing to educate the community to fight against HIV and AIDS.
